I am sure that given events of the past week it will not be a surprise to hear that I have decided to reschedule the planned Annual General Meeting for April 21, as well as the upcoming events on April 1 at the Alta Vista Library, as well as the Resolutions Meeting on March 21 at the Sunnyside Library location. For the safety and wellbeing of all our members, and to support the local and provincial actions to limit the spread of COVID19 I feel this is the right thing to do at this time.

I am currently trying to find out if the Resolutions process will be extended this year, and will plan accordingly. If not, I will look to scheduling a teleconference in place of a face to face meeting. Please stay tuned.

When we have a better sense of how this will all unfold, and of when it is safe to hold large gatherings again I will be in touch with information about new dates.

In the meantime I also recognize that many of our members would consider themselves and perhaps some family members at a higher risk for COVID19. I also recognize that this is likely causing some of you anxiety and worry. As someone who works in healthcare, I would advise you to please follow the advice of public health professionals and avoid public gatherings, stay a good distance away from ANYONE who is sick right now, wash your hands frequently, and keep as healthy as possible by eating nutritious foods and staying hydrated.

Just remember, this won’t be forever. It is a temporary measure that will soon pass. Please know you will all be in my thoughts in the coming days and weeks.

With heartfelt sincerity,
Catherine Butler
